New Delhi, May 1 Noted sitarist Pandit Devabrata Chaudhary died on Saturday in a hospital in Delhi due to complications related to Kovid-19. His son Prateek Chaudhary gave this information. He was 85. Prateek, known as Debu Chaudhary, gave information about his father’s demise on his official Facebook page.
He wrote, “My father, the veteran of sitar, Pandit Debu Chaudhary… is no more. He was admitted with dementia as well as complications of dementia and was put on a ventilator in the ICU around midnight today (May 1, 2021)… after which he suffered a heart attack and could not be saved… Despite all efforts and prayers, he could not be saved. ” The family of the sitarist consists of his son Prateek, daughter-in-law Runa and granddaughter Rayana and grandson Adhiraj. A message of distress (SOS) was posted on Twitter regarding his critical condition. Following the message from his fans, Chaudhary was admitted to the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital. He was later placed in the ICU but his condition deteriorated. One of India’s most famous sitarists, Chaudhary was from the Sania Gharana of music. He was honored with Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
