Fasting and Puja Vidhan

On Sankashti Chaturthi, take bath before morning sunrise and wear clean clothes. Take the resolution of the fast after meditating on Shriganesh. Keeping fast for the whole day, in the evening, sit near the temple of the house facing east or north. Install a statue of Shri Ganesh by laying a red posture on a clean post. After bathing them with Ganga water, burn incense and lamps. Now invoke Shri Ganesh by chanting Ganesh Gayatri Mantra ‘Om Dantay Vidyamhe Vakratundaye Dheemahi Tanno Wisdom Prachodayat’. After applying tilak of roli to them, offer Dub, Akshat and Red flowers. Offer modak or laddu fruits in the prasad. During the Puja, chant ‘Om Ganeshaya Namah’ or ‘Gan Ganapate Namah’ continuously. After that read the fast story and perform aarti. When there is moonrise in the night, offer water to the moon and worship them and pay alms to the poor or Brahmin and observe the fast.
